Reimagining the family crest for modern families through story, symbolism, and contemporary design. We would be happy to bring your family symbol to life.
-
A family crest once signaled lineage, rank, inheritance, and status. The Modern Family Crest reimagines that visual language around the legacy families actually carry: migration, memory, culture, work, land, values, traditions, and the future they are building.
Your crest begins with your story. Through a guided brief, we identify the three to five elements that matter most to your family. That may include a homeland, migration story, land, profession, faith, creativity, an animal, a family saying, an heirloom, or something entirely specific to you. Those elements become the visual language of the crest. -
The process begins with payment and a guided creative brief. You’ll share your family name, a short family story, three to five meaningful elements, any motto or initials you want considered, your preferred style, and any photographs or visual references you’d like me to work from.
From that material, I create one original black-and-white family crest design. You receive one round of minor refinements, then I prepare the final files and symbolism guide.
-
These are not reproductions of traditional heraldry. My crest style uses cleaner forms, stronger symbols, simplified black-and-white illustration, bold linework, contemporary typography, and more negative space. The goal is to retain the permanence and significance of a family emblem while creating something that feels distinctly of the present.
Your final crest is delivered as high-resolution digital artwork suitable for print and fabrication, along with a symbol guide explaining the meaning behind its elements. The black-and-white system is intentional, allowing the crest to translate cleanly across materials and applications. -
Once your crest is complete, it can become part of family life. Optional applications may include wax seals, stationery, framed artwork, apparel, reunion materials, embroidery, custom albums, or dimensional metal objects. Physical production and specialized fabrication are quoted separately.
